0 to 5. Going to work is a painful experience. You don’t feel good about the work you do or people with whom you work. Workdays are long and likely tedious. You are simply “punching a clock” and doing only what is required of you. You feel unappreciated and likely disrespected by your teammates and/or the team leader. If you’re smart, instead of complaining and feeling like a victim, you’re spending your time and energy looking for a new job opportunity.
6 to 10. Like most people, you have your good days and bad days. Your level of motivation, engagement, and satisfaction depends on the project or people with whom you are working, as well as the extent to which you are recognized appropriately for your contributions. Focus on what you like about your job and what you get out of it personally. The more engaged you are, the more productive you will be, and the more satisfied you will be with your job. You feel good about the work that you do and are appropriately recognized for your accomplishments by your team members and team leader. You have opportunities to learn and grow, which keeps you stimulated. There is a mutual level of respect with your team members and leader.
